What are essential oils?

What are essential oils? Essential oils are the lifeblood of the plant. They are made from the stems, leaves, flowers, bark, or fruit of plants. They contain hundreds of thousands of chemical compounds that make plants what they are. They can repair damage to plants and help with growth. Mankind has used them since the beginning of time as medicine.

I go with a brand that has a great track record and I can trust for being chemical free! Young Living has been my main source for oils since 2015. Always buy directly from them, as I have seen reports of people diluting them and selling them on Amazon. YL is known for being as great company and you can get lots of free products on their rewards program. You can also get rewarded with $50 by referring people if you are a member. To become a member, click here (and I’ll email you a $20 Amazon gift card). You will also get access to facebook support groups!

How to get rid of blight & mildew on tomatoes

IMG_1125

Blight is a fungal infection that affects plants in high moisture situations. It is hard to contain and spreads to the rest of the plant. It commonly affects tomatoes. Try not to plant them in the same spot year after year. Baking soda helps create an alkaline environment. Make a spray and cover the whole affected plant. Cover both sides of the leaves.

Mix:

  • 3 tablespoons baking soda, 1 gallon of water, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, and 2 drops dish soap.
  • Spray every 3 weeks until clears, increase to 3.5 tablespoons if the mildew/blight continues to grow.
